Abstract

Redacted University is a Primarily Undergraduate Institution (PUI) located in the Redacted region of Texas. Engineering programs in mechanical (2003), civil (2010), environmental (2012), and electrical (2016) engineering with a small workforce-focused general master’s level program (2017) all introduced at Redacted University. The university is also a Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) as of 2015 and has nearly 50% First Generation students. The program remains overwhelmingly undergraduate in nature and as part of the university’s focus, has a high degree of participation in undergraduate research. This paper will discuss various undergraduate research initiatives in engineering, lessons learned, and future directions as a PUI.
