AB  - We summarize our experience team teaching an undergraduate data mining course and provide
recommendations for those interested in developing and teaching their own course. We also
compare and contrast our course to other data mining courses. Our course has been team taught
four times by a computer science and a mathematics professor. We developed a mathematics and
a computer science version of the data mining course that are identical except that the computer
science version requires the course project to have an interactive data-driven website as one of the
deliverables. We describe how the topics covered in the courses have evolved. We also discuss the
learning outcomes we have developed for the courses and methods we use to assess whether
students have achieved these learning outcomes.
