courses on infrastructure empower students tounderstand the complexities of networks and metasystems, assess systems under both normal anddisrupted conditions, identify and classify stakeholders of infrastructure projects or failures, andidentify requirements for infrastructure to remain resilient in serving the needs of society.Similar to survey-type courses like history and art, introductory infrastructure courses typicallycover a wide variety of topics, and enduring themes have emerged as critical content, to includeenergy, water, and transportation [7]. For many students, water’s basic properties are well-understood. Direct observation and physical interaction with water concepts like pressure andflowrate result in an innate knowledge upon

addressed, through outreach and education, it will not be possible to increase adoption of EVs.Additionally, this study will contribute a foundation that can be used to choose locations for thedeployment of electrified technology based on the resilience of the power grid that takes intoconsideration the public perception for infrastructure development. The results showed that URCs have remarkable interest in EVs, ChSs and ERWs. Mostparticipants showed some knowledge about EVs, to a lesser degree on ChSs, and none on ERWs.Results also indicate an evident gap of essential knowledge of EV technology in URCs being themain barrier to EVs widespread diffusion and adoption. Given the fact that most URCs residentslacked EV technology information, they

. It is one of the mosturgent issues our global community is facing. According to the UNEP 2022 Global Status Reportfor Buildings and Construction [1], the buildings and construction sector consumes about 34percent of global energy use and accounts for 37 percent of global energy and process-relatedcarbon emissions in 2021. Civil engineers who are responsible for the design and construction ofthese physical systems play an essential role in reducing carbon emissions, thereby mitigatingclimate change. In terms of resilience, the infrastructure systems civil engineers design andconstruct typically have long service lives. That said, the increasing severity of hazardsattributable to climate change places these systems at significant risk, where

They have theresponsibility to advance the infrastructure needs of the society in such a way that not only meetthe current demand but also the future needs in a social and environmentally responsible way. They must design and practice in the field in a compatible manner which echoes the practice ofsustainable development. Civil engineers play a key role in designing and building theinfrastructure that meet the needs of the public and society. In the recent years the idea ofsustainability and resilient infrastructure is more prevalent than any other point in time. Thepractice of sustainability is everywhere now from renewable

purpose of this paper is to highlight how military engineering activities in communities mapto the frameworks of humanitarian and peace engineering that are increasingly being used inhigher education. Building partner capacity is a primary consideration during military training incommunities outside of the military installation. Every engagement is described as acapacity-building opportunity contributing to security and stability in the country, starting at thecommunity level. The Department of Defense Security Cooperation Humanitarian Assistanceprogram reviews country requests for a partnership to build needed infrastructure. Militaryconstruction units from all services then apply for the training opportunity to build roads, schools, clinics

UNIVERSITIESEngineering education in developed countries is seen as a benchmark for all others. Itsteaching strategies, combined with assessing knowledge and the infrastructure of modernlaboratories and classrooms, allow students to develop their skills and prepare themselvesprofessionally for the job market. At the same time, engineering education is not valued inBrazil. Its teaching methodologies are traditional and directed towards a final concept. Withthis, essential skills for the job market are partially developed, such as teamwork, problem-solving, and critical thinking. Thus, as similar strategies to those that companies do, abenchmarking to understand how this process takes place. This benchmarking is essential fordirecting engineering education based

indispensable role in providing the infrastructure that enables society andcommunities to be healthy, efficient, and thriving. To fulfill this responsibility, civil engineersmust be trained to be leaders with an array of socio-technical skills, knowledge, and attitudes.Further, there must be a sufficient number of trained engineers to meet societal needs. Thepresident of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), Dennis D. Truax, recently calledattention to “a workforce shortage that’s going to be exacerbated in the near future” and notedthat the ASCE’s Future World Vision (FWV) project could contribute to workforce development[1]. This paper begins by framing enrollment and student interest challenges in civil engineering. This is followed by a
