science and engineering in a variety of contexts, both in and out of school.Participation in informal science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) activities,along with interest in STEM subjects, is associated with interest in STEM careers when studentsreach the university level [1]. Out-of-school, informal learning can occur at a variety of sites,including everyday experiences; designed sites such as museums, nature preserves, and libraries;and structured programs such as after-school activities and summer camps [2]. This paperdescribes the programming provided at one academic library to a STEM summer camp formiddle schoolers [3] and explores the opportunities and challenges of this kind of programmingin an academic library.STEM

This year, 2017, marks the 50th anniversary of ELD’s division status and the 75thanniversary of the first Engineering School Libraries Committee. This paper explores the historyof ELD from 1960 to the present. The author’s preceding paper, published in 2016, covered thehistory of librarians in ASEE from 1893 through the 1950s.[1]The history of ELD over the past fifty years has been marked by three major themes or trends.The first trend is rapid and continuous technological change, beginning in the late 1950s, that hastransformed how scientific and technical information is created, disseminated, stored, andretrieved. organizations.From our review of ELD publications in the ASEE proceedings, we observed limited co-authorship, decreased collaboration with professionals outside librarianship, and a lack ofinternational collaborations between ELD members. It is obvious that ELD is having feweropportunities to participate in conference programs with other ASEE divisions and perpetuationof this state has been extensively discussed in recent ELD meetings. We suggest that the ELDleadership develop a strategic approach to increased collaboration with other divisions,particularly those that provide support to engineering education such as Computing &Information Technology, Continuing Professional Development, Educational Research &Methods, and Women in Engineering.In

campus internship programs for these projects, the Director ofPublic Services and Director of Technical Services were invited to present two space renovationprojects to Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISE) students enrolled in their senior capstonedesign project. The presentation included a tour of the main library (Bartle Library). The ISEstudents were given an assignment to identify design problems that would require theirengineering expertise. : Library Guide for IDIS 303Whenever a team was having problems developing search terms/keywords, the librarian wouldswitch over to Google Scholar to give them a familiar place to search. For some reason studentshad an easier time experimenting in Google Scholar than in any other database. The librarian andstudents then discussed the use of quotes, date ranges, and the advance search. Afterwards, thespecialized engineering databases would be searched with the newly found search terms. Asdocuments are found, the librarian explained where each would fit in their outline.
