The courses were developed and arebeing co-taught by the authors, a history professor and an engineering professor. Students at U.S.colleges and universities compete by submitting design proposals to solve challenges facingairports, either as part of a course or as an independent project with faculty sponsors. The CAVE is aroom-sized cube with three projection walls (front, left and right, each with dimension of 12’ x9.5’) as well as the floor projection. A user can wear a pair of 3D glasses in the CAVE to viewstereoscopic images on the projection walls generated by a computer. The embeddedprocessor performs the function of the computer and server used for traditional remotelaboratories [7].In terms of embedded processors, this project utilized a Raspberry Pi that the systemcontroller as well as the web server. Raspberry Pi, a small-scale computing system with itsown operating system, replaced a full-scale computer/server, thereby reducing the cost andcomplexity of the remote laboratory design [8, 9]. The developed experiments can beaccessed remotely over the web using a suitable graphical user interface (GUI).
