their writingabilities and previous experiences in ME 342W. Survey questions # 1 and #2 were open-ended questions. For survey question # 1, senior-level ME 440 students were asked: “Of all the engineering classes that you have taken at thisuniversity, which do you feel was best at helping you with your technical writing skills? Brieflydescribe why you selected this course.” Survey question # 2 followed up by asking students tothen specify their choice of second best course which fit this criteria. Table 1 summarizes theanswers to Question # 1 (Q#1) and Question # 2 (Q#2), by tallying all of the courses mentioned, whether by course code, explicit course title or some combination of each.Table 1: Student responses to 5 point Likert-scale

For 63% of students, handling Q & Aduring their poster session and for 74% of them, managing communication confidence wasachieved. 26% of students mentioned that they learned how to create a poster and organize theirposter layout. When students were asked “If you were an instructor, what would you change inPHOTO 321N course to improve the students learning?”, one main suggestion was to give shortquizzes after each topic to give the lectures more substance to the course.ConclusionsThe results from this experimental course illustrated very clearly that Flow Visualization can beperformed

However, at this time, the text book Engineering Me-chanics: Dynamics used in this class by Gray et al. uses the Connect platform only and thus abetter alternative is not available. This OL class uses Piazza [13], an web-based Wiki-style Q&A forum, where students canask questions and both the students and teaching team can contribute to an answer. The systemis designed to be intuitive and easy to use. For this class, which uses a lot of mathematics andequation writing, the support for LateX in the system is hugely beneficial. This is the single mostimportant reason for the author to use Piazza. It has been the author’s experience that Piazza hasmanaged to
