For objective (3) we collected approximately 200 surveyresponses validating important data science concepts from the existing body of knowledgepresented by the Edison Project [1]. Faculty and industry practitioners from data science andclosely related fields comprised the survey respondents.Preliminary results of our overall efforts will be presented at the ASEE National Conference andExposition in the NSF Grantees poster session, however this paper focuses on the developmentand analysis of the difficulty protocol. As a work in progress, our data, analyses, and findings arenot yet final and are subject to change as we progress through

Typically, their view of this group is one characterized bya set of characteristics that include assumptions of need, student goals, age and experience, andlocation among others. Of course, other important factors are also considered during newprogram design. These include institutional and originating department missions, geographicregion served, perceptions of need, advisory council input, leadership directions and more.In prior papers, delivered at the 2016[5] and 2019[6] ASEE conferences the authors addressedthe development process for the recently approved Doctor of Technology (DTech) offered by thePolytechnic Institute at Purdue

Access to classes within the School was allowed usually at alater date than the start of registration so as to allow declared majors to make good progresstowards graduation. Issues that arose included classed closing while demand from continuingmajors was still not taken care of; for example, students that failed a class in the major and didnot plan ahead. In the 2019 catalog the policy became stricter with concerns over low graduation ratesbecoming an important factor. • Applicant has completed 24 or more semester credit hours at the university and
