graduates from the 22 years that the instructorhas taught the class, and obtained 184 responses (21 % response rate of all enrolled students),with yearly percent of total enrollments responding and cumulative responses plotted in Figure 3.Of the respondents, 42.4 percent (78 respondents) indicated that they have designed steelstructures in their career. Student’s self-perception of preparedness in structural steel design forthe workforce and graduate school are shown in Tables 1 and 2, respectively. engineering students. A totalof 34 undergraduate students participated in the study. Of these, 32 were male and 2 were femalestudents. All students stated that they were interested in pursuing a career in engineering. Thestudents were divided into two groups with the first group being the initial pilot run of the data. Inthis first group there were 24 students, in the second group there were 10 students. The groups’demographics were nearly identical to each other. Analysis of the collected data indicated thatproblem-solving skills contribute to metacognitive skills and may develop first in students beforelarger metacognitive constructs of awareness, monitoring, planning, self-checking, and strategyselection. She received her Ph.D. in Educational Psychology specializing in Inquiry Methodology from Indiana University in 2006. She managed a consulting business for 10 years working on evaluations that focused primarily in the areas of education and STEM for middle and high school students, especially women and minority students. Harden’s curriculum map different biological topics such as hypertension are nested inside amore general topic such as cardiovascular systems 14 .Graph-based methods and hierarchies quickly provide an overview of the curriculum but theydon’t often consider the paths that students take through the curriculum (as measured by studentlearning data) or the temporal aspects such as when in their academic careers students are takingeach course. Including student data is important because the intended curriculum is not alwaysfollowed by students as prescribed. In our review we found two examples that consider thecurriculum temporally.
