various phases of the pandemic. Ourwork concentrates on the students who take courses in the CST department. The analysis isperformed by aggregating multiple institutional and departmental data sets from Spring 2019 toSpring 2022. The student's performance is examined for the sequence of the first threeprogramming courses at the CST Department. It is analyzed along several dimensions, includingmajor, gender, ethnicity, etc., throughout the different phases of the COVID-19 pandemic. Thisproject investigates the performance of the students who take the CST courses as mandatorycourses for the three CST majors as well as the performance of the students (non-CST majors)who take the CST courses as a general education computing requirement. of Engineering and Cyber Systems to theSchool of Leadership and Management.BackgroundIn May of 2022 the United States Coast Guard Academy (USCGA) graduated its first class ofCyber Systems majors. This major was introduced at the Coast Guard Academy (CGA) in orderto provide a larger number of technically-competent leaders of character to accomplish the needsof the Service in the midst of growing demands in the cyber domain. The Cyber Systems majorcomprises a strong academic foundation in secure technical computing balanced with amanagerial cyber emphasis. Program stakeholders repeatedly shared the importance ofunderstanding risk within the cyber context. As a result, it was determined by the faculty that theCyber Systems Major at CGA needed
this reason, an amphibious water sampling rover was created by a capstoneproject team. This capstone project team was formed with five undergraduate engineeringtechnology students. This project was started in the Spring semester of 2022 and concluded inthe Fall semester of 2022. This project generated a rover, and the rover can navigate both on landand on water. And it can perform the water sample collection task. The rover can be controlledover a remote PC, and it can collect water temperature data, and the data can be sent remotelyover the internet. For wireless communication, a sub-GHz LoRa module is used. The rover canalso communicate over WiFi. A GUI (Graphical user interface) program was developed tocollect data from the rover and to

Due to these cyberattacks, 22% of the companies suffered aloss of customers as well as found difficulty with attracting new customers [1], and these attacksplace immense financial pressure on businesses. The average cost of business being disrupted dueto a cyberattack has increased from $1.56 million in 2018 to $1.90 million in the year 2019, a 21%increase [2]. Nonetheless, according to the Hiscox Cyber Readiness Report in the year 2022, 72%of the businesses in the United States are classified as Cyber novices i.e., they have poor strategyand execution in dealing with cyber-attacks [1]. 2022, the CS department converted more remote-teaching courses back toin-classroom, in-person courses compared to the earlier term. In the fall of 2022, almost allcourses were converted to in-person, in-classroom courses except a few courses. While we continued to collect data from the spring of 2019 to the fall of 2021, we discoverednoticeable enrollment trends throughout the COVID-19 pandemic period. Based on the data wecollected, we observed that the COVID-19 pandemic crisis significantly affected femalestudents’ enrollment in early programming courses (CS1, CS2, and CS3). We suspect it could bebecause female students tend to spend more time doing household chores or taking care of theirsiblings than male students.Previous research found

First, the paper presents the design of a strongspecifications grading system by mapping the learning outcomes map to assessment targets.Further, it will elaborate on how the assessments can be bundled to form specifications for thefinal letter grade. It will also elaborate on the teaching and grading load to handle revisions. Thissystem was implemented over two semesters - Fall 2021 and Spring 2022. The author’s learningsfrom each attempt and the changes made in the second iteration will also be presented. Overall, the grading system was accepted positively across two semesters, without

Based on our previous work [1], these mentoring initiatives aimed to developstudents' sense of belonging, self-efficacy, and computing identity, as research [2, 3] shows senseof belonging and self-efficacy are the two main reasons for low enrollment and retainingunderrepresented computing students. the quantum workforce gap hasemerged. There is a growing demand for professionals skilled in quantum computing, yet theeducational infrastructure to produce such talent is still in its initial stages of development [4].This gap is not just in specialized quantum researchers but extends to a broader range of roles, including engineers, programmers, and educators with a working knowledge of quantumprinciples as highlighted by September 2022 report by the World Economic Forum (WEF) andIBM committing to skill 30 million people globally by 2020 to help meet the skills gap [5].The lack of skills workforce in quantum computing has many parallels with what has happenedwith lack of skilled workforce in cybersecurity today [6]. This might inflate students’sense of their self-reported learning despite failing to demonstrate the knowledge, skills, andcompetencies associated with introductory CS coursework (Hui, 2023; Cloude et al, 2024).Students may, for example, build working code that does not demonstrate algorithmic thinkingskills by hard-coding solutions, using brute force programming techniques, or using otherrudimentary programming approaches.
