access. Open-source robotics builds on the principles of open-source hardware and software. Theyboth encourage publicly available models that afford collaboration through modification, making, selling, improvement, and distribution. This represents a shift in the traditional method thatacademics use for research and publishing but a necessary one to increase diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice in STEM. By not restricting access to work behind journal paywalls orconference fees, communities with limited resources can still benefit from them. The “Robotics for the Streets” initiative was implemented in 2022 through the generoussupport of the Open-Source Hardware Association and Sloan Foundation to diversify STEM byusing open-source
2020 or 2021 and virtual research occurred foronly two students in 2021. In 2022, the world re-opened, international travel resumed, and theselected group of students felt unprepared for the experience. The long-term impact of theCOVID-19 pandemic is unknown. Thus, it is essential to identify the characteristics and factorsthat enable or hinder academic achievement. Previous studies e.g., [10], [11], and [12] created aquestionnaire to assess students’ self-efficacy, resilience, help-seeking/adaptation, academicstructure, personal structure, and academic/professional concerns related to COVID-19 yieldingpositive results about students' perceptions of mentorship and support. With coaching from their summer research abroad coordinator, they

Our study involved a thorough review of 14 articles aiming to gain insightsinto variables that have been explored as predictors and mediators of conceptual change. It wasobserved that 79% of the studies were conducted between 2010 and 2022, and only one studywas conducted before 2000. Figure 2 shows the distribution of published articles across theyears.Fig 2. did not match what they wanted toachieve [4]. Also, a study in 2022, indicates that the primary reason girls do not chooseengineering is because of lack of knowledge and understanding of what engineering is and whatthey do [5]. As part of the redesign of the project management course, we also wanted to addressthis societal issue. Having engineers incorporate societal issues into their design work is arequirement of not only our accrediting body ABET, it is a professional obligation according tothe Engineer’s Code of Ethics[6, 7]. These two primary issues were the guiding light in theredesign of the project management course. Why was the Project Management Class redesigned? One of the primary reasons for redesigning the project management class

no discernible benefit to student learning. However, proponents arguethat much of the criticism directed towards learning styles research stems from misunderstandings of theirnature and purpose (Felder), proposing metrics like the Felder-Silverman Index of Learning Styles (ILS)as alternatives (Felder, 2). Research on the Silverman-Felder ILS, particularly in experimental classroom settings, has beensparse. In 2022, Zillmer and Mussmann conducted a year-long longitudinal study examining the passiveeffects of student-instructor "closeness" (measured by the four ILS dimensions) on student performancein first-year college mathematics. Their data indicated a statistically significant impact of student-instructor distance on student

and redesign of the “Introduction to Computing for Engineering”course was underway in Spring 2022. Imagining a future where engineering students develop, analyze, produce, and assess engineering processes, products, and impacts through a lens ofjustice and equity, a research and development team was starting this process by integratingsocial justice topics alongside technical knowledge within this first-year engineeringcomputation course. Across all five sections (taught individually by instructors to class sizes of~30 to 45 students each) there were three main modifications to the course and course structurebeing made. First was new content development, with a specific focus on engineering activitiesthat include both computational challenges
