In an attempt to respond to this persistent issue, various intervention programs haveemerged, including afterschool STEM activities, academic mentoring initiatives, and e-mentoring platforms, with aims to increase participation of historically underrepresented groupssuch as women, minorities, and those from disadvantaged backgrounds in STEM fields (Denson& Bayati, 2023; Denson et al., 2022; Tyler-Wood et al., 2012). First, states are increasingly requiring students to complete four years of math in highschool, and second states are beginning to require students to complete a math course each yearof high school, to ensure students earn high school math credit before entering college or aspecialized technical school [14].Formulation of the InvestigationThe primary intent is to determine to what

remain a top priority. Methods for attracting and retaining students in STEM fields has been debated fordecades and remains a focus of the U.S’s current educational policies; the recent passage of theCHIPS and Science Act of 2022, for example, reaffirms the White House’s commitment togrowing a pool of STEM workforce graduates by investing in STEM education and training atall educational levels [2]. Despite the dedication of resources towards STEM, many students stillfall behind in academic achievement, particularly in math. While these educational policies haveled to increasing secondary school science literacy in the U.S., the average U.S. mathachievement scores still falls below the international averages and has remained
