empower faculty to enact positive change. During thedevelopment of this faculty leadership initiative, a separate leadership training course wasdeveloped for Department Heads.Advocates and Allies ProgramThe Advocates and Allies (A&A) program was adapted to address gender equity and inclusionon campus and increase awareness of implicit bias (Bilen-Green et al. 2013, 2015; Anicha et al.2020, 2022). Volunteer male Advocates are faculty members who educate themselves aboutissues of inclusivity and gender inequality and developed workshops to train faculty, staff, andadministrators to become Allies who support a more inclusive campus culture that specificallyimproves the day-to-day experiences of women and other underrepresented faculty groups

barriers, there is also an inherent bias in the field against women [12]. Astudy in 2022, indicates that the primary reason girls do not choose engineering is because oflack of knowledge and understanding of what engineering is and what they do [13]. Thissocietal issue is what the civic engagement project was designed to address and has definiteelements of social justice. In addition, having engineers incorporate these issues into their designwork is a requirement of not only our accrediting body ABET, it is a professional obligationaccording to the Engineer’s Code of Ethics[2, 14].As stated many girls don’t consider engineering because of lack of knowledge, understanding, oraccess to positive information depicting women in engineering, the

high-impact practices. ©American Society for Engineering Education, 2025 Introduction Many survey research instruments designed to measure STEM students’ academic skills anddispositions are, even if inadvertently, used to label some students as successes and others as failures(Garriott, 2019). Such instruments are often based on foundational frameworks in education research thathave been normed and tested on White students over many years (Gillborn et al., 2018). Unsurprisingly, such tools regularly show that Students of Color “deviate” from the “norm”, using language thatemphasizes deficit (Arellano, 2022). Educators, university leaders, employers, and

greater integration, it is also important to understand 1) How well versed instructorsare with AI in terms of literacy and 2) what methods they employ in utilizing AI in their lessons.Despite the promising potential that AI continues to deliver, there is a knowledge gap regardinguniversity educators' perception of AI within the TPACK framework. Specifically, regardingtheir AI literacy and how it shapes their pedagogical approaches to higher education. Existingstudies on AI integration within the TPACK framework have largely employed quantitativemethodologies, focusing on self-reported competencies.
