2021 and April 2022. Participantswere recruited through a recruitment flyer that was sent to every senior in the Southern PolytechnicCollege of Engineering and Engineering Technology (SPCEET). After data cleaning, a total of 91senior engineering students who were actively looking for post graduate jobs voluntarilyparticipated in this survey study. Online written consent was obtained from the participants beforeresponding to the survey questions. This study was approved by the KSU Institutional ReviewBoard (IRB).The survey took approximately 20-25 minutes to complete and contained 150 items. In addition todemographic questions, participants answered various Likert scale questions. Core Self-Evaluation was measured by a 12-item scale developed

this study was compiled on September 15th, 2022.The target population of this study was students who completed a common first-year engineeringsequence and matriculated to a degree granting major. Institutions with a FYEP model (FYPusing the Chen et al. taxonomy [6]) were isolated by checking if the National Center forEducation Statistics’ Classification of Instructional Programs (CIP) [7] code for first-yearengineering students was equal to 140102, indicating enrollment in an FYEP. This resulted in theutilization of data from three large, public institutions in the United States. These institutions arenot geographically representative of the United States, with two being located in the southeast,and are all predominantly white institutions [8

US have lost their lives in motorvehicle-related crashes, occurring at a rate of one fatality every 75 minutes, as reported in 2022.Despite this, road safety rules have seen minimal changes, presenting a considerable danger topedestrians. Individuals with disabilities face heightened risks due to impaired mobility orsensory functions, and there is limited data on road traffic injuries for this group. Children,particularly at school crossings, are vulnerable, potentially struggling to analyze situations andpanicking without adult or school staff assistance safely crossing the street. In keeping with research on intercultural competency, the programwas designed to build intercultural awareness and skills, forge international personal andprofessional connections, and encourage thinking about the global energy landscape—with aspecial focus on Brazil and the U.S,Twenty-three graduate students (12 from the U.S. and 11 from Brazil) completed all GIGELprogram requirements in Summer 2022. The design of the program included: 1. asynchronouslearning of online modules on Brightspace (an online learning platform); 2. five LIVE Zoomsessions, and 3. readings and assignments on Country Navigator (an online intercultural learningprogram).We built the
