educational gaps in geotechnicalengineering education through the development and implementation of a transferable andscalable Mixed Reality and Mobile (MR&M) Educational Game, “GeoExplorer.” A game-basedcourse module was implemented in existing geotechnical engineering courses at RensselaerPolytechnic Institute (RPI). The main advantage to this approach was that potential problems, both information andlogistics based, were addressed before the remote undergraduate class students were involved.Approximately two weeks prior to an actual task, the host students would be given theopportunity to run through an initial trial.
