and ASEE has established a diversity recognition program to recognize Schoolsthat have incorporated these aspects into their mission, a piece of which is the curricula [1]. Inaddition, the revisions to ABET criterion 5 (curriculum) now include the need to address DEI [2].To accomplish part of the curricular component, we have been working on hands-on activities thatare scalable from a first-year program to upper level courses in the Fred DeMatteis School ofEngineering and Applied Science (SEAS) at Hofstra University, a midsized, private universitylocated in Hempstead, NY. Hofstra is situated in a region that represents a very diverse communityand the students in our engineering programs mirror this diversity. For example, SEAS boasts a63.7

to the oil and gas arena. Worked for Shell, Altura, and Oxy until December 2019. Areas of experience, water floods and CO2 floods field performance and development, hydrocarbon storage caverns, CO2 source fields. The type of work I enjoyed the most was the development and implementation of plans to either improve field performance or expand field production. Nack for working with teams/groups of different backgrounds to achieve a common goal. Since 2006, first as a part-time instructor and after 2019 as a full-time lecturer teaching in the Petroleum Engineering Department at Texas Tech, the goal of my classes both sophomore and senior levels is to prepare young minds to become strong engineers capable of working

post-pandemic are overwhelmingly desirous of in-class instruction with no videos. Wefind that our graduate students co-enrolled in senior design electives have been less affected bythe pandemic in terms of acceptance of the flipped format. This gives hope that the effects of thepandemic on the student experience with flipped classrooms will be temporary. However, it is areminder that student acceptance of pedagogical tools does vary in time, and that instructorsshould be nimble in being able to respond to the needs of an individual cohort.References[1] Bishop, J., & Verleger, M. Specifically, they must be preparedto address new environmental health challenges caused by population growth, urbanization, and climate change, which have decreased water quality and increaseddisparities between the wealthy and the poor (Mihelcic et al., 2017; United Nations, 2020).However, existing studies have found that the development of interculturalcommunication skills has not been well studied, especially for engineering students(Handford et al., 2019), who generally tend to score low on tests of intercultural abilities(e.g., Yu, 2012

As part of the module, students start a virtual internship at a fictionalengineering company. After being briefed through a lecture on CPT, they enter a 3D (game)environment where they conduct CPTs. Students analyze CPT data extracted from theenvironment and submit a report. To assess student experience of this module, we collectedpre/post surveys, game data (including in-game assessments), and student/faculty interviews. Inthis paper, we report the findings of implementing this CPT module in the initial three years ofthe project (2016-2019) at five institutions. Overall, we
