. Anticipating and acting on future developments would enable engineeringprograms to prepare, but there is little consensus on its future in 10 years. IEEE created aCurricula and Pedagogy committee (CPC) and charged it to forecast the future of ECEeducation and to make recommendations regarding roles that IEEE will play in preparing forand crafting that future. As an initial step, the committee engaged in a scenario planningexercise1,2,3,4 to consider possible trends in engineering education. Then, the committeedeveloped and administered a survey to confirm and revise trends that emerged from scenarioplanning. By meeting at the start of every semester, each institution can be updated on thechanges at the other, ensuring that any planned or proposed curriculum changes are mirrored atthe neighboring school. Issues students encounter while negotiating the transfer process arediscussed. An articulation agreement exists between UTC and ChSCC negating the need forstudents to petition individual courses. The group did not anticipate how much effortwould be required for this project, and ultimately failed budget enough time. In the future, I planto take two steps to rectify the problem. First, I will work with students interested in reverseengineering a system to ensure that they understand how difficult such tasks can be. ProjectGoalsFigure 5: A summary of student survey results on effectiveness of course project in achieving learning objectives.The results of the self-evaluating survey overall demonstrate that the project has been effective inimproving students’ programming skills, as well as showing them the software-hardwareconnection and real world applications of programming in practice.
