The Peace Corps Master’s Program provided a similar experience to CEDC’sprogram but it was recently phased out, and it focused on graduate students rather thanundergraduates (Peace Corps, 2016). Consequently, there are not many outlets for students toexperience such an intense experience in the Global South. This model is based on ourdecade-long study of the National Science Foundation-funded (NSF) Engineering ResearchCenter (ERC) Program, which has witnessed great success in graduating science and engineeringleaders over the past three decades. Dr. Shehab teaches undergraduate and graduate level courses in ergonomics, work methods, experimental design, and statistical analysis. Her current research is with the Research Institute for STEM Education, a multi-disciplinary research group investigating factors related to equity and diversity in engineering student populations
