explain how they measured the rectifying responses in the oscilloscope, compared theimpact of loads on each circuit and analyzed the difference between the output response of bothcircuits. Their grades were excellent. Some of the practical applications of diodes in the EEMcourse are in AC to DC converter and DC to DC boost converter; the knowledge gained fromstudying diodes, rectifier circuits, and DC motors would apply in their capstone project, wherethey will design, build, and test a hybrid power plant. They will analyze the system's power bymeasuring the voltage and current.ConclusionsThis paper presented an application of project-based learning in a laboratory. Through hands-onexperiments, students demonstrated an understanding of the

This paperpresents the configuration of a hydrogen fuel cell and a battery to increase the efficiency of apractical power source for a sustained Direct Current (DC) load for the milestones of a seniorElectrical Engineering capstone project. The goal is to design a switching schedule between abattery and the hydrogen fuel cell to run the load.  The

. Ultimately, the solution to the lack of dedicated engineering space was simple (butnot easy): construct a new building. However, building a new space on campus requiresinstitutional support and a funding source. The College President and College Advancementoffice began raising funds to design and build an addition to the existing science center. Theseefforts culminated in the construction in 2017 of a joint Engineering and Biomedical SciencesHall, which included a dedicated engineering laboratory, an engineering computation lab, amodern teaching classroom, three faculty offices, and two “project labs” intended to provideworkspace for Engineering and Integrated Science design, research, and capstone projects. However, shortly after construction was

: the practice of certain canonical problems in acertain collection of subjects is supposed to habituate the student into a certain way of thinkingthat we think constitutive of a physicist, chemist, or other flavor of scientist. But science alsoventures out into the unknown, past the canonical problems and the canonical experiments, andso students need to be formed in ways of handling these more ambiguous situations where rightcourse of action is not clearly defined. Many undergraduate science curricula includeopportunities for such formation, often in advanced laboratory courses or capstone/senior thesiscoursework. Assessment of these formational outcomes is possible, but not as straightforward asfor technical outcomes. The question then is

facilitate learning elements of programming in the context of thelaboratory experiment.Integration of scientific inquiry. The physics tasks consisted of hands-on activities usingPASCO equipment and PASCO Capstone software, which are aligned with the three principlesdefined by course textbook (i.e., linear momentum, energy, and angular momentum principles),along with guided activities in Python programming.Students engaged in two ED challenges throughout the laboratory sessions. This study focusedon the first ED challenges that worked as an introduction to design experience for the students. The next section describes in detail this first design challenge.Engineering Design ChallengeStudents completed the first design challenge in labs 0 through 5
