over 27 years. She worked as project manager, engineering manager, utility manager, maintenance manager, and finally as the Resident Engineer managing all technical areas of the facility. During her tenure, the brewery saw dramatic increases in productivity improvement, increased use of automation systems, and significant cost reductions in all areas including utilities where they received the internal award for having the best utility usage reduction for 2014. Since joining Ohio State, Aimee has joined the American Society of Engineering Educators and serves as the treasurer of the Engineering Economics division.Miss Lora Mavrouli, Ohio State University c American Society for Engineering

discusses the impacts of various course assignments and activities that were used toincrease student motivation and learning. The courses selected for the study are Quality Analysisand Design of Experiments courses, which are offered as required courses in the industrialengineering graduate program at the University of New Haven. The assignments and activitiesinclude term project, term paper, homework, in-class exercises, quizzes, exams, library trainingand factory visit. In an earlier pilot study in the Quality Analysis course, scaffolding -aninstructional strategy that enables students to build on prior experience and knowledge as theywork towards mastering higher level skills- was employed using these activities andassignments, and the impact on

to the end of the semester. Six Sigma concepts with relevant statistical distribution applications are coveredin the SPC course. Students were assigned to solve questions by using all three different software in both OR andSPC courses for several assignments and the semester course projects. The IE students who responded thequestionnaires completed an elementary computer science course in the IE program in which they are introducedto basic programming language concepts. The same instructor taught both the OR and SPC courses during thesemester of the data collected for this research. There was a total of 8 students willing to participate and completethe research questionnaires analyzed in this work. The participation to this study was

softwareassociated with it has become cheaper, faster, and easier to use, both in the consumer market aswell as for research purposes. As devices get more affordable, the market is filled with new anddifferent types of games to utilize the hardware. From education to training and therapy, manyapplications were not possible to this extent previously. In this project, the use of VR is dedicatedto creating a richer and more immersive learning environment for the participants involved in theproject. Researchers have been using video games in educational settings for the purpose oflearning and training [6,7]. This fast-growing trend is aided by the vast improvement in hardwarecapable of rendering increasingly realistic and high definition virtual

of their junioryear. The journal can serve as physical evidence that the student can use to keep track of all theactivities, document the history, write notes, and revisit whenever needed. It is also a way to seethe linkage between the courses [39].3.4 Future PlanThe plan of this project is to assess the impact of i) using VR technology to teach IE conceptsand ii) using VR teaching modules to integrate the IE curriculum. The assessment involves twocohorts: control and intervention groups. The authors are currently collecting data for the controlgroup. Once the VR module is fully developed, relevant data will be collected and analyzed withrespect to the control group. The assessment instruments involve self-report surveys andknowledge tests
