reinforced the connection between Lean principles and sustainability goals. Additionally,a final project with a biofuel company offered students hands-on experience in streamliningsustainable processes.Feedback from both students and the industry partner was positive, affirming the effectiveness ofintegrating sustainability into the curriculum. Student responses indicated a significant shift intheir perception of the role of engineers in addressing environmental challenges. Statisticalanalysis revealed a meaningful impact on student attitudes towards sustainability.Looking ahead, the author is spearheading initiatives to build on this momentum, including theformation of a sustainability consortium and pursuing grant opportunities to

A classroom debate rubricwas used to assess the debates [17].Pitch PresentationIn this final project (paper and presentation), student teams were asked to assume the role of awork system designer and pitch an idea to perform work differently or improve current worksystem activities in any industry of their choice. This project did not just focus on advancedtechnology such as robotics or AI and how it would change work, but also on new work practicesand policies that AI might entail in future work systems. The project intended to make studentscritically think and reflect about the

, hands-on components stimulate curiosity. This creates astimulating learning atmosphere that encourages in-depth exploration of the underlyingtechnological concepts and piques curiosity. When compared to more passive learning methods,experiment-centric pedagogy has been demonstrated to boost motivation, peer-learning, andretention [13]. Following a study on learners' experiences after exploration and experimentation,Connor et al. [14] emphasized that project-based pedagogy frequently contains implicit biasesthat limit learning, either in terms of the procedures followed or the expected results. This wouldresult in predictable outcomes that do not promote divergent thinking and creativity [14]. Thisleads to the authors providing evidence that

Innovative Processes”, in whichIndustrial Engineering students learn concepts such as Value Stream Map, Pull vs Push Flow,Visual Management, Poka Yoke, Manufacturing Cells, Kanban, and SMED. In this course, students develop a continuous improvement project, using the learned tools, within a realcompany that allows them to analyze the process and collaborate with workers. Nevertheless, due to this course only having four to five weeks available to work with the company, the actualimplementation of these tools is not performed completely, so the students don’t see the results.Recognizing these challenges, this paper explores an innovative use of virtual reality to simulatea manufacturing process and to implement Lean tools within a controlled

This study explores these metrics for designing anAI teaching assistant for a virtual 3D printing lab. In this pilot study, part of a course project, students completed five types of interactions for twenty tasks to print a virtual 3D object, relyingon clear symbolic and written instructions within VR. Gaze data provides insights into where andhow long participants look inside the VR, offering a good understanding of their behavior invarious situations. Therefore, an AI assistant based on gaze behavior will provide acomprehensive understanding of the learners' actions, helping enhance the

discussion on additional applications of theLogical Model, such as analysis and design of experiments, will be presented in a later paper.1. Introduction and literature reviewLike any scientific study, a simulation project involves a defined sequence of steps. The processbegins with establishing a clear problem statement and study goals, leading to actionablerecommendations to support decision-making. Crucially, after model development, simulationstudies require debugging, verification, and validation. However, some students struggle todistinguish between these terms.Debugging entails meticulously examining a model for errors. This encompasses syntax issues aswell as semantic or logical errors that can lead to misleading output. Fortunately
