constraints and administrative procedures, the updated curricula areyet to be implemented. GIZ also helped to provide relatively comprehensive lab facilities andequipment in the past one and a half years for the faculty of Geology and Mines though againdue to some security challenges and constraints, summarized below, we are still waiting for theinstallation and inauguration of this laboratory. Moreover, some other MoUs helped KPU to equip the laboratory of other engineering faculties. For example the KPU and Slovak University of Technology MoU resulted in the equipping andmodernised the laboratory of the faculty of Chemical Engineering in KPU. Beside these, laboratories in different disciplines, e.g. department of Organic Substances Technology

education in AfghanistanModern education in Afghanistan has started at a very slow pace in early 1900s. However, the development of education in the country has made significant progress between 1960sand 1970s [1]. Understandably, the quality of education in SET subjects has not been verystrong due to the lack of suitably qualified academics and sufficient learning resources suchas laboratories, libraries and relevant industries. The establishment of SET education atuniversity level in the country was initially facilitated by foreign nations such as USA,Germany and then the former USSR. For instance, USA and Germany provided assistance tothe faculties of Engineering and Science at Kabul University while the Afghan governmentestablished Kabul

living conditionfor a complete immersion into the local culture. During the visit, students also participate in someregular classes with their teammates (both lectures and laboratory work), even though the classesmay not be in their nature discipline. The reason for participating in classes is mostly to get an ideaof their teammates students’ competencies, but also to experience the educational methods andcustoms in other country. All the students involved in three projects appreciated very much thisimmersion, to see and experience similarities and differences at both universities. It also helpsstudents better to understand culture of their teammates.Intercultural Competencies Training our students to become “global engineers” includes improving

formulation and development.Evaluation: Each topic was aligned with a laboratory assignment, problem identification, group(2-4) oral presentation, and a final project deliverable.Module 2: Weeks 3-4, United Nations SDG-4 Quality of EducationThe second module focused on the integration of vectors, geometry, trigonometry, andexperimentation for analysis of scientific phenomena and engineering systems, addressing UNSDG-4 Quality of Education.Specific objectives of this moduleStudents will learn to apply mathematical concepts to determine: (i) forces and stresses in staticsystems comprising linear elements, (ii) reflection and refraction of light from plane interfaces, and (iii) current in a simple circuit. Students will also learn to take measurements

slowed after the visit the progress of the project, but face-to face communication (during the visit) made it much easier to explain professional terms. Also visit to laboratory and seeing the physical system made it clear for DTU students how the system works and what have to be done during the project. PURDUE students get also better understanding what competencies DTU students have. The positive impact of the visit was visible for the rest of the project. Intercultural Students on both sides have had their own assumptions about what it would experience and be like working in team composed

I learned a lot about courses such as Technical Communication, andMechanical Laboratory. Then there was one course for Virtual Reality. These are thecourses that I never took even in my bachelor’s degree or my master’s degree.” -- PamelaCultural knowledgeWithin the knowledge domain, cultural knowledge was mentioned by every student.Take Phillip as an example, due to participating in Chinese festivals, he learned abouttraditional Chinese culture, which helped him to respect others and some rituals.“Oh, I have learned about Chinese culture. Yeah, I stayed with my professor inJiangshan. Yeah, he brought me in a Chinese New Year. So it was really the bestexperience of
