the summer camp.Nanotechnology Summer CampThe nanotechnology summer camp was initiated in Summer 2014 and was offered again inSummer 2015. The camp is weeklong (Monday through Friday 9AM-4PM) and is open byapplication to high school juniors and seniors. The students have the option to be residential ornon-residential. Enrollment data showed that 5 out of the 16 participants are from out of state(31%).  student will participate in a related internship at INL in the summer of 2016. Students from the most recent offering of the class were surveyed through standard course evaluations at the University of Idaho and an additional course survey. The course evaluation was completed by 10 of 15 students. The course and the instructors were rated on a 0 to 4 scale with 4 as the most favorable rating. The survey included a ranking of the value to career or academic pursuits, perceived difficulty, enjoyment of the class and opportunity to comment on the relevancy of the course to their field. Two students from 2014 completed the survey and 4 from 2015. Students provided values of 0 (least favorable) to 5 (most favorable) on the questions of value

In addition to well-chosenexperiments, students’ data should be checked before they leave the lab to make sure that thedata is at least acceptable to complete the lab assignment.The lab experiments for this course were developed with low cost and user friendly requirementsin mind. launching torpedoes. Partof the system requirements for their design was to seamlessly integrate the current robosubsystems into their project. This modification also created some continuity in the student’sworking knowledge on the project. In past years, once the completion was finished the studentsgraduated and went on with their various careers and the experiential knowledge was totally lostfrom the project. By having overlapping capstone projects working on the same goals, theexperience and working knowledge is maintained and successfully passed on to other teammembers.The third change made was to have the students create a Robosub Club to encourage youngerstudents to get involved in the project.
