Therefore, the design of the SEEK Mentor survey wasn’t developed with aresearch lens in mind. Particularly, there wasn’t a keen focus on leadership development andhow that impact plays a critical part in the effectiveness of individuals hired to work withstudents. This is very similar to professional development that is designed for K-12 teachers.FUTURE WORKOne particular project recommended for future work consists of comparing classroom mentorsfeedback on site leaders and their level of interest in the program to the students’ perceptions ofclassroom mentors and interest outcomes. Evaluation of Interactive Multidisciplinary Curricula in a Residential Summer ProgramAbstract Previous studies have indicated that women account for about 18% of the engineeringdegrees awarded in the United States. Consistently low populations of women in engineering areoften attributed to discrimination, the perception that engineering is a masculine domain, and alack of understanding about the roles and responsibilities of an engineer. In order to increaseparticipation of women in engineering, universities develop outreach programs designed to bettereducate students (and the public) about engineering. Programs in the form of informationsessions, seminars or research activities are informative but often are not

Research has shown Makerspaces as sources of multidisciplinarylearning, a blending of communities of practice with formal learning, and finally that the depthof learning is in the making. While the research points to the values of making in general, andspecifically making in museum makerspaces, there seems to be little research on family making, and how museums can encourage family making. This research hopes to bridge both these gapsby studying the importance of family making and its relevance in children's museums.Data has been collected over the last 3 years from the New York and Bay Area flagship MakerFaires with sets of interviews with approximately 32 Young Makers and the parents of YoungMakers. STEM collegeeducation. These findings have important implications. First, it is imperative to design STEM outreachprograms with engaging activities that help increase participants' knowledge of STEM, becausesuch programs boost students' confidence in their readiness for relatively challenging STEM highereducation that leads to a STEM career. In addition, the CCSU NSTI program receives significantcontributions from female professionals, exposing students to successful female role models. Thispractice is supposed to have positive impacts on female students' pursuit of STEM,13 but more workis needed to cultivate female high school students' interest and persistence in STEM.
