Students wanted support fromprofessors, both academic and emotional. Academically, students stated that they wanted lesswork and that professors needed to keep in mind that they are often in several engineeringcourses at the same time and have responsibilities outside of school. Interms of technical attributes, students' responses ranged quite significantly from “strategicthinking” and “math and logic based mind” to “human being.” Interestingly, we found that noneof the four engineering students defined themselves as engineers in describing their technicalattributes or “Who I am” from the technical standpoint.Preliminary Discussion From this activity and preliminary work, we found that students struggled toconceptualize and distinguish technical knowledge (“What I know”), technical skills (“What Ido”), and technical attributes (“Who I am”).
