Research Organization) Laboratory is created atKennesaw state university. The university currently offers a minor in Aerospace Engineering.Minor is available to students majoring in all disciplines of engineering and sciences. To earn aminor, students are required to take five Aerospace Engineering classes including a senior designcapstone project. By the time students finish their minor, they are well versed in Aerospaceconcepts and are on a path to either pursue graduate degrees in Aerospace engineering or a careerin the Aerospace industry. The AE minor has grown in popularity over the past few years. Tosupport this growth, the school established an AERO lab in the summer of 2019. This lab providesa platform for students and faculty to

accreditation in ChinaAbstract:This paper reports the redesign of a junior level engineering experimentation courseto promote students’ problem solving and technical communication skills. The redesign wascarried out to support the accreditation of an engineering program in a technical institution inChina.Since China became an official member of the Washington Accord in 2016, engineeringprograms in Chinese universities and colleges have attempted to adopt outcome-basededucation. Between 2018 and 2019, the authors redesigned an experimentation course thathad been offered for 14 years at the authors’ home institution. The newly designed curriculumwas implemented for the first time in the fall semester of 2019.Following the guiding principle of letting

In addition, they do not completely testfor common modeling patterns and practices.Automated Reviews via Custom Validation SuitesIn 2019, the author attended Approaches to Marking and Validating Sensitive MBSE Models, apresentation at the 2019 MBSE Cyber Experience Symposium [6]. This presentation, by VeejayGorospe of the Johns Hopkins University’s Applied Physics Laboratory, showcased the usage ofcustomized validation rules to assess security classification issues. Gorospe created validationrules using the structured expression language built into MagicDraw. The author is a proponent of using these structured expressions to create purpose-built tables, matrices, and dynamic legends to extract value from models. The language uses

In oneof the few photo ethnographic studies, Thomas [18] did a photo diary study with undergraduateambassadors to investigate Rice University’s Fondren Library services and spaces. Her successwith the study informed our research project. However, there is still a gap in the literature for theuse of photography in ethnographic studies. Background of College of Architecture In fall 2019, the College Station campus had a total enrollment of 69,465: 54,476undergraduates (ungr) and 14,989 graduate students (grad) [19]. and BackgroundDespite decades of targeted effort and resources, women remain dramatically underrepresentedin engineering fields (Yoder, 2012) and this underrepresentation can lead to a number ormarginalizing experiences. Researchers have demonstrated the ways in which masculine normsand values are reflected in engineering practice and therefore code the discipline as male(Dryburgh, 1999; Secules, 2019). At the same time, technical/social dualisms map intomale/female binaries in ways that inform and support beliefs about what counts as engineeringwork and what is peripheral to the practice (Faulkner, 2000, 2007). These factors combine towhat amounts for an unwelcoming or chilly climate for women in most engineering fields(Ambrose, Bridges

None of the students in either offering had taken either classespreviously and all were architectural engineering majors with a structural focus. Also, the sameset of students were mandated to take both classes in their 4th year. As such, the student populationis identical from one class to the next which allowed for identical teams in both semesters. Supporting this significant event and recognizing the urgentneed of increasing diversity, deans of engineering schools across the United States signedpledges to act on four major diversity initiatives. One of these initiatives addresses thecommitment of developing and implementing proactive strategies for increasing therepresentation of women and underrepresented minorities within the engineering professoriate[1]. One general measure of success outlined in the pledge is a “notable increase” in

The efficacy of the techniques in increasing student engagement with the coursematerial and student understanding is self-assessed through a survey administered to the studentsat the end of the Fall 2019 semester. This assessment method is limited due to the small samplesize studied (nine students), however, the data suggests that the use of these strategies may behelpful in student education. From the assessment, it was found that guided notes wereconsidered helpful by students, and they were particularly helpful for studying. Online discussionusing Piazza was not appreciated
