after the first or secondMidterm exam. Those who barely pass the class with a letter grade D are required to repeat theclass to get a grade C or better to enroll in upper division classes where Fluid Mechanics is oneof the prerequisite courses. This setback significantly delays their graduation time.To increase better understanding of the first Midterm’s course materials and improve the averagescore of the first Midterm, students require more time to practice the theory of fluid statics. Thispaper describes a simple change in the course syllabus that was adopted to allow students withmore time to grasp the challenging concepts of the first Midterm. The purpose of this study is toimprove students’ success rate in the class with specific goal of

. Both students and instructors require support. Student and instructional needs may differ, but lack of support leads to low satisfaction in both groups.• Clear and specific specifications for the student’s computer hardware, software, and telecommunications must be published prior to course registration so that enrolling students can be ready to participate in the online course.• Students should be trained on how to effectively use the Centra (or Adobe Connect) system. This should happen before the first formal lecture.• Course syllabus should clearly identify the number of synchronous class teachings, amount of expected asynchronous learning by students, expected conduct during the synchronous delivery, and grading

made as to the effect of this arrangement on studentlearning.General FormatThe format of the course was blended. Half of the sessions were held in a classroom, and halfwere online. During the first two class meetings, the instructor introduced the course and courseobjectives, and discussed the first of the topics – interpersonal communication. During thesecond period, the instructor distributed a conflict questionnaire, and the group discussed theirindividual results. The rest of the face-to-face sessions were reserved for team presentations anddemonstration of the final project. The online sessions allowed students to work individually on Web-based training (WBT)modules. The modules were available through the university, and presented

The same instructor taught both the blended instructionand the traditional face-to-face lecture. The focus of this study was twofold: a) determinepotential negative impact of the blended format, and b) identify the major predictors of finalperformance in this course. A one-way ANOVA analysis indicated no statistically significantdifferences in final course score between the control and the treatment groups. The analysis of aproposed path analysis model showed that self-efficacy, perceived engagement and perceiveddifficulty are significant predictors of students’ final performance in

this study is to compare the objectives of the Security+ exam with the twoCisco Networking Academy security courses. The Security+ certification exam objectives covermost of the basics of security and they can be integrated into the first security course of most ITprograms. Finally, a master course syllabus that covers the Security+ exam objectives isdeveloped to map each course objective with its corresponding certification objective. It isanticipated that colleges and universities will benefit from this study by using the proposedcourse syllabus as a framework for integrating the Security+ certification exam objectives intotheir curriculum.IntroductionCertification establishes a standard of competency in specific areas of the IT field which

A corresponding summary has yet to be established for online instruction. Therefore, we explore the following research questions: RQ1: What barriers do instructors expect to experience when adopting active learning in online instruction? RQ2: How do the barriers instructors expect to experience when adopting active learning in online instruction differ from those for in-person instruction? We recruited instructors who used or planned to use active learning in teaching a STEMcourse for first- and/or second-year

The eBook uses hundreds of simulations and animations to help studentsgrasp technical concepts. Other resources for the students include Flash-based lectures for thefull course. These are 8-12 minute mini-lectures from actual classroom lectures that present asingle concept or example. Since they are done in Flash, they have small file sizes and can bescaled for easy viewing. There are also over a thousand online homework problems that can beassigned to the students. The assigned problems can also be graded online. Each course at UT will be subdivided into a series

Unlike a normal semester, the course was entirely online. It was intended tobe synchronous, but a few students were across the world making the lecture time challenging. Icarefully explained the purpose of office hours and encouraged students to attend for bothcourse-related and general questions. Due to COVID all office hours were online. Students weregiven an opportunity to earn extra credit the first time they visited me during office

All occupational completion points, student performance outcomes, or standards and/or certifications covered in the material were be analyzed through an iterative process using a codebook derived from the Department of Labor Advanced Manufacturing Competency Models [13, 14]. Researchers also used established instruments to measure the extent to which the new professionals report entrepreneurial and intrapreneurial intentions [15, 16, 17]. In addition to deriving areas of strong and weak alignment, the researchers calculated the extent of match between the syllabi and the standards. The team employed our

underpinning, which aims to make them useful for as many as possible. But it doesn’t override the need to address individual student needs. It is important to note that even a course or experienced designer with a UD approach will not necessarily be appropriate for all students. For example, individuals are very different, even students with the same diagnosis. Students will still need accommodations on an individual basis. ● Thus, while using a UD approach to course design tends to make the course accessible for more students by accounting for variety, it does not account for everything.Acknowledging a Diverse Student Population● Increasing recognition of diversity ○ Including students with non-visible

In lower-level courses, students receive brief instruction inHow to Read a Book[1], Cornell notes[2], and Sketchnoting[3]. Student Note assignmentsrequire students to take hand-written notes while reading the textbook and post a picture of theirreading and class notes to an online discussion board. Educational Resources (OER) are freely accessible, open licensed materials that can includetext, media, or other digital formats and are created for teaching, learning, and supporting research[1–4]. OER and Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) are changing the ways in which peoplelearn all over the world [5, 6]. These new approaches to education are a response to the lack ofaccess to and the increasing cost of education throughout the developing and developed world.Overcoming the disparity in educational access worldwide, and even just within the United States,is a long-term goal of OER and MOOCs, but to be successful will require the support of gov-ernments and agencies that regulate education [7]. Another benefit to OER is a reduced cost tostudents

They providecritical prerequisite skills for both Engineering and Computer Science students, and for many, they represent a barrier to not only success, but also entry into those programs. In January of2014, CTU had a 50% withdraw rate in Pre-calculus, and in the summer of that year, we sawsimilar results in Trigonometry. Although we could not determine exact numbers, we knew fromspeaking with faculty and advisors that students were leaving Engineering because they couldnot get past these two critical math courses. The university had seen improvement in studentmastery of course objectives in the prerequisite College Algebra course online, and
