even when overall retention is improving?In 2009, LeTourneau University, a small, private university sought to identify the reasons behindlow graduation rates in the School of Engineering and Engineering Technology (SEET). Theydeployed an exhaustive survey to students that had left the school asking these former students(leavers) to rank the influences behind their decision to leave engineering. Results were utilizedto help develop several first-year retention initiatives targeted at engineering persistence of firsttime in any college (FTIC) students. She has a B.E. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Dayton and a Ph.D. degree in Engineering Education from Purdue University. In her work, she characterizes front-end design practices across the student to practitioner continuum, develops empirically-based tools to support design best practices, and studies the impact of front- end design tools on design success
