perspective on ambassador programs, and peer-mentoringobservations are one way to capture perspectives from students. As a major component ofambassador programs, peer mentoring is recognized as an impactful mechanism for academicsuccess and retention4,5.The perspective of ambassadors who are immersed in the day-to-day activities of mentoringcould provide significant value to our understanding of students’ needs. Ambassadors’perspectives may provide rich opportunities to design a comprehensive program that is directlymatched to the students’ needs, since ambassadors can be fully immersed in the program as it isdelivered. Additionally, ambassadors serve as trusted “indigenous” members of the peer-mentoring community and are able to observe student

-represented minority (URM) engineering students definepersonal success as compared to majority engineering students. Understanding these potentialdifferences may enable university administrators and faculty to educate and support thesestudents in relevant ways that enhance their ability to succeed. This analysis was drawn from a larger study that employed interdisciplinary, mixed-methods toidentify factors contributing to the successful retention and graduation of under-represented andunder-served minority engineering students at a predominately white research institution. URMengineering students participated in face-to-face interviews designed to engage them in reflectionand discussion of their lived experiences as engineering students. From this

practical and valid outcome measure that we can repeatedlyassess over time. Outcome measures useful for our program evaluation must possess severalfeatures such as the properties of reliability, validity, and sensitivity to change. However, measuring the ultimate impact sought from the entrepreneurial education programs(i.e., the creation of entrepreneurial mindset among the students) is neither clear nor straight-forward. In order to measure whether the program create entrepreneurial mindset among thestudents properly, researchers perhaps need to measure multiple outcomes. Entrepreneurshipeducation programs include a large range of topics including knowledge, skills, and attitudes aswell as impacts of such programs go beyond classrooms. Because of

It seemed that beingable to process together was as important as the content shared in these sessions. While the pandemic caused disruption in many projects, it also provided motivated students towork in creative new ways. A benefit of the move to online is that the students could not tinkerand figure things out, but instead had to thoroughly plan and execute their projects. It presentedthe opportunity for students to engage in more analyses. Test plans were developed. For oneproblem, the group utilized the IdeaKeg tool, for the other problem they worked using atraditional brainstorming process.Introduction:Engineering and creativity have always had a love-hate relationship. On the one hand, we ownan overarching social contract, to create products, services, and infrastructure which are safe anduseful for a public who must trust us. We draw on first principles and best practices wheneverwe can. We critique each other's work rigorously toward that end. And each team of engineerstends to build upon their own experience, repeating successful design

practice paper presentsthe design and implementation of an identity-based engineering leadership instructional module, along with empirical evidence assessing its impact on student leader identity and understanding. While many university programs focus on leadership skills or behaviors, a growing literaturebase suggests that seeing oneself as a leader is a powerful influence on long-term leadershipdevelopment. Identity-- or how one sees oneself, and is seen by others, in society— providesinsight into the dynamic, multi-faceted and individual nature of leadership development. Thisresearch builds on emerging research that has identified potential features of an identity-basedinstructional approach, but it is not yet clear how one might operationalize

As such, there is a growing need to establish empirical and theoretical understandings of thesecommunities and their impacts on faculty in order to better inform best practices. The current research takes a mixed methods approach to understand the participation, perceptions and outcomes of a New Faculty Learning Community (NFLC) program in theCollege of Engineering at a large Midwestern research university in the United States.
