Ready Reserve (IRR), typically consisting of five years onactive duty and three years in the IRR.Cadets develop over a 47-month experience through a program called the West Point LeaderDevelopment System (WPLDS) [14]. The entire living-learning environment is structured toprovide cadets with leadership opportunities and help them relate their experiences to personaldevelopment as leaders and future officers in the Army. Military and civilian faculty at WestPoint have a unique opportunity to develop students in their respective disciplines whileimmersed in a leadership laboratory. In fact, the weekly timetable documentssuggest that as much as a third of the fourth-year contact hours at Town University areexpected laboratory work time rather than traditional contact sessions (not evident in thefigure).With respect to the institutional variations, Figure 1 shows that in the last two years, there is asignificant difference in contact time at the two South African universities, with the contacthours at City University considerably lower than those at Town University.
