draft. The applicability of these steps along withstudents’ curiosity led to an appropriate understanding of the guidelines needed in writing atechnical manuscript. While they are doing this task, an introduction to Modeling and Simulationlecture was given along with a simplified teaching manual for ADAMS software and small projectsfor practice. This stage has been evaluated through the rubric shown in Figure 1. © American Society for Engineering Education, 2017 2017 ASEE Midwest Section Conference Figure 1: Project Rubric- Part IRubric II: a month was given for students to practice brainstorming and come-up with their ownsolution to fill the gap, which was

Along with thepersonal electronic kit comes the basic training of how to use the equipment that is in thelaboratory, which includes DC power supplies, Variable function generators, and oscilloscopes. Teamwork is neither a newconcept nor one that is unfamiliar to most people3.” Every lecture and activity will be worked onas a team and the

In an undergraduate 1 © American Society for Engineering Education, 2017 2017 ASEE Midwest Section Conferenceengineering curriculum, it is clearly impossible to include all of these developments. Thecurriculum, however, needs to focus on providing students with solid grounding in engineeringfundamentals, and preparing them to work across disciplines throughout their careers. The emerging engineering technologies and fields use mathematical modeling as the primaryform of design2. and V2V and V2I communication(Zhong 2014).3. Experiment SetupArduino Uno microcontrollers were selected to simulate the receiving and transmitting nodes. Themicrocontrollers were equipped with various sensors and actuators. The team developed vehicle prototypesusing RF controlled cars. LSM303 accelerometers were used to detect the cars motion. HC SR04 pingultrasonic sensors were used for proximity detection of other vehicles and objects. RF transmitter andreceivers were used to transmit data between the nodes. The specific hardware used are listed in Table 1. Table 1. gearbox, and a generator. Each part has a separatefunction. The propellers turn wind energy into mechanical energy, the gearbox increasesrotational speed, and the generator converts mechanical energy to electrical energy.I. IntroductionWind energy has exhibited the most rapid growth of all renewable energy because it is a free andnatural energy source [1]. We need a windmill in order to collect wind and use it for makingenergy [2]-[11]. A windmill converts the wind’s kinetic energy into electrical energy by using agenerator. There are essentially two types of windmills: the horizontal-axis windmill and thevertical-axis windmill. The former device rotates in the horizontal plane and the latter devicerotates in the vertical plane. The vertical-axis
process, where each program:(1) formally requests accreditation; (2) undergoes self-study and completes self-studydocumentation; (3) goes through visitation by ABET assessors who then draft a detailed report, and (4) receives a formal decision granted by the accreditation agency. This process is thenrepeated on a six-year cycle (Aft, 2002). Aft (2002) provides several examples of benefits ofABET accreditation, which include assurances to prospective students and parents that a givenprogram meets minimum standards, evidence to employers the graduates are prepared for jobs, and accountability to taxpayers that their money is well-spent. Thus, as Aft (2002) puts it,accountability process leads to tangible benefits for the accredited programs, such as
potential employers? How can they prove that they are capable of performing at a respectable level without having had an opportunity to actually work in an engineering environment? Industry- recognized certifications can give these young engineers an edge. The objective of this paper is two-fold: 1) to express the need and importance of industry-recognized certifications in the undergraduate ET curriculum, and 2) to set up the framework for implementing certification exams in the undergraduate ET curriculum. Data and reactions from industry surveys, advisory boards and other constituents will be presented to validate the importance of introducing certifications. It is also important to
the basicvariables can be identified with the identity matrix in the tableau. The value of these variablesare the right hand side. All other variables are called nonbasic and have a value of 0 at thecurrent solution. The algorithm finds the most improving column (most negative element in thefirst row) and enters it. The algorithm selects a row through the ratio test, which is the right handside divided by the selected column element, if the column element is positive and infinityotherwise. The minimum value of the ratio test selects the row. The intersection of the selectedrow and column is the pivot element. A pivot uses elementary row operations to make thepivoted element a 1 and every other element in the column a 0. This process repeats
) HVAC control Upgrade: This project involves the recommendation to change the controls throughout the 20+ story building from 50-year old pneumatic thermostats to wireless controls. Previously, consultants recommended changing the controls but this was many years ago before wireless controls were popular. Also, the previous data was collected when utility prices were significantly different than today, so it makes sense that this project is worth evaluating. Below are photos from the tour given by the building staff.
