The EWB Challenge has been piloted at Colorado State University over the last two years as partof a first year general engineering design class. This paper reports on the implementation, the feedbackand reflections from students over the two years. Students reflected that in general, the EWB Challengehad facilitated a good introduction to engineering, global and cultural influences along with professionalskills and had directly helped them improve their skills in these key areas. Finally, the paper’s authorsreflect on improvements to their implementation at Colorado State University going forward and suggestdifferent options for other universities to include the EWB

Engineering Global Centrism Engineering Global Prep6.0 DiscussionThe results of this study, which furthers initial results reported in a previous conference paper[25], indicate that the NanoJapan students made sizable gains on all of the EGPI subscales, butonly differences on the Engineering Ethics and Humanity subscale were statistically significant. .The difference between groups may reinforce the importance of aspects of the NanoJapanprogram that encourage students to reflect on culture differences between the US and Japan,which they were of course experiencing daily as part of their research assignments. This paper reports the preliminary findings from a survey based onthe Intrinsic Motivation Inventory (IMI) given to students before starting their participation inthe multinational projects. The data collected provides information in five constructs which are:interest/enjoyment, perceived competence, pressure/tension, perceived choice, andvalue/usefulness.
