, knowledge and learning, technical challenges, and softwarefinancing issues [2]. Understanding where and how BIM is being used well, what challenges andgaps persist, and how to conduct research in a responsive, iterative, and informative way canhelp. Upskilling the overall industry and its people will require providing education intechnologies, processes, and communication standards and building research capability. Toachieve this, the education system faces challenges regarding educators' knowledge base andskills (which may be lacking in BIM), the financial and physical resources available, and generalresistance to change by educational institutions and the people who teach in them [3].Global leaders in BIM adoptionRecent research has identified

Assignments were also added to help achieve the courseoutcomes. For the outcome “Interpret national and international green standards for buildingdesign and construction” a new project was added to the assignment in which students had tofind a few LEED O+M certified projects and study the projects. They had to then present theirfindings in class and develop an essay to discuss the different aspects of each project. Given thatmany countries in the world are using the LEED system, this assignment helps students becomefamiliar with the different ways LEED criteria are applied in different contexts and

To provide a balance of student technical learning, teamwork skill building, and the grading, thisexperiment is conducted in self-selected groups of four students. Depending on the class size, sometimes agroup of 3 or 5 is permitted. Students have a week to establish their own team. After that timeframe, thefaculty places the remaining students randomly in a few groups to conclude the teaming process. Whilethere are exceptions, the teams that were

Specifically, this paperfocuses on the requirements set by ABET and CEAB for the architectural engineering program.Similar reviews of U.S. Architectural Engineering requirements have been performed in the past[3, 4]. There are also existing reviews of the CEAB accreditation for Architectural Engineeringprograms [5]. However, this research is different in that it compares U.S. ABET accreditedprograms with International ABET accredited programs and Canadian CEAB accreditedprograms.Washington AccordBeginning in 1989 as six countries sought reciprocity for

Participants wereasked to estimate the number of alumni or non-alumni AE professionals they were “aware of, interms of who they are, what their jobs are, etc.” and that they had met personally. Responseoptions were 0, 1-2, 3-5, 6-10, and 11+.Auxiliary demographic data were also collected to analyze group differences and impact at theindividual and channel level. This included students’ gender, race/ethnicity, year in the AEprogram, status as a first-generation student, status as an international student, and students’channel membership. return tothe campuses was gradually allowed in 2022, universities had to adapt for the new normality. In the case of our university, a hybrid format was used, with special equipment in theclassroom that allowed a certain number of students in the classroom and the rest followingthe session at home. The classrooms were equipped with cameras that would follow up theprofessor, who had to be masked and using a Lavalier microphone (see fig. 3). Rechargeablebatteries and chargers were placed in each classroom. This hybrid modality allowed somestudents who were not able to attend the campus due to financial problems, to continue theirstudies from a different city. This was greatly appreciated by families who were strugglingwith their finances

aspreadsheet in less time by utilizing artificial intelligence (AI)?This paper will discuss incorporating the use of AI Chatbots, such as ChatGPT, Claude 3, andGemini (formerly known as Bard), into an advanced steel design course. The course is centeredaround a semester long project where Architectural Engineering students design and analyze a multi-story steel structure. Students throughout the semester will use an AI Chatbot to create spreadsheetsby asking it to develop Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) code that can then be inserted into Excelspreadsheets. The resulting spreadsheet will be compared to hand-calculations and RISA output todetermine the accuracy of the VBA code and error reduction produced by AI Chatbots.IntroductionIt is a common

As part of the introduction to the second phase of thedesign challenge, the instructor presented a lecture on universal design. Students received twoweeks of design development time, and two sessions of instructor and TA (Teaching Assistants)feedback to advance their design during the second phase. The final products of the second phaseincluded updates to the original concepts in terms of design and construction, but alsoconsiderations of diversity in user experience. In this paper, the authors review the improvements made to the Design Days Challenge as itreturns to an all in-person event. Also included is an overview of the perceived advances inproject results

Appropriation art mixesconcepts such as found objects and minimalism. The artist repurposes existing art into a differentcontext and without much modification [3]. Andy Warhol appropriated the designs of Coca-Colabottles and Campbell’s soup cans and developed a subgenre recognized as pop art. Subsequently,Elaine Sturtevant’s appropriated Warhol’s appropriated work and even used his silk screenequipment in the process [4]. visual study tools ratherthan traditional reading-writing methods. It is important to consider that through the application of different teaching methods theknowledge can be further approached. In architecture, it is necessary to make relationsbetween theoretical aspects and concepts with much more practical and technicalapplications. Thus, the requirement of having a broad comprehension of topics and therelations between them is fundamental. Through mind maps, graphic relations can be madebetween the several topics covered on a course. Visual tools can help “clarify the relationshipbetween material objects and concepts to understand” [3]. The critical challenges faced byan ArPM (Architect Project Manager) are ‘poor planning,’ ‘unfamiliar

MiguelAndres’s research includes Architectural and Civil Engineering Project Management, Sustainable and Resilient Urban Infrastructure, and the development of engineers who not only have strong technical and practical knowledge but the social awareness and agency to address global humanitarian, environmental, and social justice challenges. For him, social justice is a concept that should always be involved in discussions on infrastructure. Related to STEM education, Miguel Andres develops disruptive pedagogies for STEM courses as a tool for innovation, and assessing engineering
