StructureSyllabi from 27 Industrial Engineering programs (and 1 Engineering Management program)were examined to determine the design and structure of their capstone courses. Information thatwas readily available for each program included course design (type of projects), credit hours persemester, number of semesters, grading structure, whether work was conducted as teams, and ifother disciplines were included in the course. Characteristics common across all programs arethe use of teams and the use of an A-F grading scale (with the exception of one university).The majority of the capstone course projects were strictly sponsored by industry as seen inFigure 1.
