introduction of asynchronous digital design in the classroom is largely constrained by the lack of introductory educational materials. Future complex integrated circuits such as SoCs, in nano-meter technology are most likely to use asynchronous paradigms in the design of data-path circuits of the IC. This paper presents an approach for integrating asynchronous designs into the undergraduate VLSI design course. The paper is organized into 5 sections. After using the RBIS for a while, faculty may even refocus on implementing new RBIS orother things in their teaching practice [16].Henderson [17] notes that physics faculty are largely aware of 24 different RBIS, reporting thatonly 12% of survey respondents reported no knowledge of them. Another 16% of faculty areaware of these practices and have not tried using them. Another 23% of faculty try using thesestrategies and then discontinue their use after using them. Of the faculty who have tried thesestrategies, 1/3 don’t currently use them, 1/3 are low users who may employ 1-2 strategies, and1/3 are high users who employ three or more strategies. Two versions of the software are currently available: 1) user clicks on distinguishingmarkers separating heart beats, and 2) user draws a line over a region that is to be automaticallyanalyzed using contrast. A feature was recently incorporated into the software to analyzecombined data at any sampling rate and output an average of instantaneous heart rates, standarddeviation, and standard error in each time interval. The choice to use the online LMS(BbLearn) to blend these courses was natural, since the very nature of the courses was centeredon computer usage. Blended learning, which in its simplest form “is the thoughtful integration ofclassroom face-to-face learning experiences with online learning experiences,”11(p96) leverages theonline environment to improve the student learning experience.
