In engineering, the number climbed from 13,705 mastersdegrees and 2,301 doctoral degrees awarded in 1966 to 33,872 masters and 5,776 doctoraldegrees awarded in 2004[2]. Women and under-represented minorities’ (URM) share ofengineering doctoral degrees have increased but members of these groups are stillunderrepresented at the doctoral level. The technology analysis was used to evaluate and select variousexisting water purification technologies to identify the best choice for given market segments inthe countries of study. The business analysis focused on evaluating the feasibility of markets inthe regions studied (Honduras, Central America; Mozambique, Africa; Madhya PradeshProvince, India; Sichuan Province, China) including capital investment, manufacturing cost,distribution cost, payback time, etc. An appropriate team, including faculty members, apostdoctoral researcher, and graduate students, was assembled to accomplish the tasks. yearretention rates.In this analysis, the Education Trust College Results Online Database was used with thefollowing filters: • Universities that are classified as Doctoral Research Extensive using the Carnegie classification 2 • Universities with a 6-year overall graduation rate of more than 75% (very successful) • Universities with an STEM percent greater than 25% ( a high percent of technical degree seekers)Twenty-five universities were identified; the data analysis included 24 universities. TheCalifornia Institute of Technology was considered an outlier with its high SAT median and smallstudent population.
