They argue if the field of higher education is to change, then meritocracy must bereimagined. In this course, students hear practicing engineersdescribe their on-the-job experiences. They are also given a variety of oral and writtencommunications exercises. Finally, they are exposed for the first time in a formal way to thenotion of ethics and moral reasoning.After a thorough investigation of the Challenger disaster,3 students are presented withdescriptions of typical ethical dilemmas and a procedure for dealing with them.
