Based on the data provided by the sailors through theQualtrics online survey, six sailors of 20 were not aware of the CNO / OPNAV 41's “Print theFleet Initiative” within the U.S. Navy before the workshop. They expressed that there is a gap inthe current expertise within their organization to utilize additive manufacturing for naval purposes.The majority of sailors agreed that their overall knowledge on 3D printing and reverse engineeringsignificantly improved as a result of this workshop. They also noted that they would like to attendan extended version of the workshop, or even have it as a part of their regular naval training (a C-school for electronics technicians). For programming- or spreadsheet-focused lectures, we used Microsoft Excel,VBA within Excel, MATLAB, or Simulink as appropriate, and could readily switch the videocapture between the programming environment and the relevant PowerPoints as needed.
