This is done by various means such asdirect presentation of quantitative results, case studies about experiences of LGBTQ individualsin STEM, and activities exploring how STEM culture impacts LGBTQ individuals. Uponcompletion of Safe Zone training, graduates receive a Safe Zone sticker to display in theirworkplace. This simple symbol of LGBTQ alliance has been shown to benefit LGBTQ studentsand faculty in powerful and meaningful ways [24].Safe Zone workshops were first introduced at the ASEE Annual Conference in 2014 and offeredagain at the 2015 Annual Conference [31].
