of waves. Listening to Waves (LTW) is a program designed toincrease adolescents’ interest in STEM through the science of sound and music. Based onLTW’s early experience performing STEM outreach activities in schools, LTW recognized theneed to create easily accessible tools for visualizing and manipulating sound. In particular, LTWhas been developing browser-based implementations of a signal generator, an oscilloscope, and aspectrogram. Taskconflict’s impact on performance has also been found to be dependent upon how the conflict isaddressed and the levels of trust and cooperation within a group [16], [17]. digital design course that hosted the second experiment in flexible assessments. Thetwo sections included 43 electrical engineering (EE) majors and five computer engineering(CPE) majors. The course topics included gate-level design, modular design, and finite statemachine-based circuit design. The course included 14 laboratory experiments in which studentslearned to model circuits using Verilog and implement them on an FPGA-based developmentboard. We enhanced the inclusive nature of the course by choosing no-cost courseware6,including textbooks, lab manual, and the HDL development environment.
