Most of these effortsdo not define specific desired outcomes beyond increasing students’ ability to understand “thetechnical” and “the social” as deeply connected, and to appreciate that sociotechnical thinking isan important part of engineering work. That is, sociotechnical engineering programs andinterventions rarely prescribe desired career paths or other, more easily quantifiable goals fortheir students.
