of waves. Listening to Waves (LTW) is a program designed toincrease adolescents’ interest in STEM through the science of sound and music. Based onLTW’s early experience performing STEM outreach activities in schools, LTW recognized theneed to create easily accessible tools for visualizing and manipulating sound. In particular, LTWhas been developing browser-based implementations of a signal generator, an oscilloscope, and aspectrogram. These tools, commonly used in physics and engineering laboratories, represent andanalyze data gathered through the computer microphone and sent to the speaker. It is interesting to consider, then, if—and by what degree—license studentsare affected by the flipped classroom format, especially as compared with their non-license engineeringstudent counterparts (“interns”).This paper aims to quantify the effects that the flipped classroom format has on license students.
