The Felder and Silverman modelof learning styles and Kolb’s learning styles will be presented below. The Felder and Silverman model learning styles include active or reflective, sensing orintuitive, visual or verbal, and sequential or global. All learners fall into one of the two styles ineach category. For instance, a student could be an active, sensing, visual, sequential learner.The Index of Learning Styles (ILS) provides a scale for each one of these 4 categories, wheredepending upon the students’ responses, the ILS will indicate how much a student may be

semester, students presented a project charter on their thesis projects thatdemonstrated their knowledge learned about related PTM skills, approaches to utilizing theseskills in their thesis research, and their learning experiences at the GAPS course. Throughout thesemester they also engaged in reflective writing assignments focused on their application ofskills to their work. A copy of the course syllabus is included in Appendix 1.Purpose of the Paper/Research QuestionsAlthough COVID-19 altered our original intention of in-person course and networkingopportunities, we chose to develop an online course as a way to pilot test some of the materialand assignments. At least thirty 9th-12thgrade mathematics, computer science, and pre-engineering teachers will participate in AR-DATAand work with faculty mentors, graduate students, curriculum coaches, and industry experts in asix-week RET Summer Program and academic-year follow up to develop and disseminatelearning modules to enhance current curriculum, attain new knowledge of data analytics andengineering applications, and benefit professionally through the RET program activities. in 1962. Themomentum for a US version of the Canadian Calling intensified in the 1960s as members of theOSPE formed a committee to establish a similar organization in the US. The committee enlistedthe assistance of the deans of the Ohio colleges of engineering and on June 4, 1970, the firstmembers of the Order of the Engineer were inducted at a ceremony at Cleveland StateUniversity. As with the Canadian Calling, the Order of the Engineer ceremony included thereciting of an Obligation and the receipt of a ring to be worn on the little finger of the workinghand. before the 20th century, most of the minimumrequirements for public education began to be codified between 1918-1930. The World Wars affectedboth public health and education policy. Not only did it become apparent that there was inequality in thelevel of education, but there were also health needs which were causing concern. The poor health andeducation systems were a national security issue. Nurses became more prevalent in schools just prior tothe first world war (Cubberly 1919). In 1908 with a Tuberculosis outbreak in the United Kingdom, otherconcerns about ventilation and a healthy environment were also identified (Hays 1908). Once again, however, the course is designed to be open-ended, so thatstudents work out an experimental strategy on their own.From the weekly peer assessments, the most common comments dealt with studentdissatisfaction concerning having to work in groups. averages (all 12 questions) for theABET “a to k” criteria for the Spring semester Capstone Experience class as compared toDepartmental and College averages. Note that ABET question “g” was split into separateevaluations of written and oral communications. As can be seen from the figure, the studentsroutinely, with one noted exception, rated the Capstone Experience class course well above boththe Departmental and College averages for all other courses. We feel that these scores reflect therequirement of direct application of concepts that students are taught in their previousundergraduate coursework, which is the primary objective of all OU Capstone Experiencecourses.
