based biocompatibility module with laboratory and lecture components that can be easilyintegrated into an engineering or biomaterials course.Within the biomedical engineering curriculum at Bucknell University, a senior-level fabricationand experimental design course is integrated into a four course design sequence where twocourses comprise the senior capstone experience and two courses teach supplementary material.The intent of the sequence is to provide experience with a variety of skills that are valuable forboth senior design projects and in BME careers after graduation. Accordingto a recent review by McDaniel and Wooldridge9, “Constructivist teaching methods … differfrom traditional education in that students are expected to take responsibility for their ownlearning in order to actively create knowledge structures.” The sequence of CLs requiredstudents to build explicit models of instrumentation, control systems, sensation, bioelectricity,and biomechanics within a repeated Simulink environment, with explicit callbacks to previouslabs.
