ITM is still running to this day and it is by far the largest gathering ofracial/ethnic minority PhD scholars who are interested in faculty careers in academia, includingmany McNair Scholars. A closer examination of the 2019 ITM roster reveals that only 36 of the113 R1 schools studied in this paper sent college representatives to this important gathering. careers. Typical uses for PDM include; version control, common component libraries,templates, and design/documentation approval workflows. Nearly all industries and companiesof any size have adopted PDM to decrease the cost of design. However, educational institutionshave not widely implemented PDM into the education of our students.The PDM system we chose to implement is specifically designed for CAD, and thus hasfeedback systems that the students will encounter in the workforce.
