Many higher education institutions rapidly navigated to newinstructional methods for teaching project-based learning courses. This modified pedagogychanged how students managed project time, received and reviewed instructional materials, andcompetition of tasks and assignments. An engineering design course study by Miranda et al.(2022) suggests the Covid-19 pandemic negatively impacted design courses due to the historicalpedagogy of instructor-led

Students had an opportunity to improve their skills as there were threeassignments spread across the semester. Based on the grading of the memos submitted, studentswere able to solve the assigned problems through both hand solution and using the processsimulator. However, it seems that the specifics of what to use the process simulator for need tobe better outlined in the assignment description. Some students used a combination of the steamtables with the process simulator. In the future, it will be emphasized that the solution for

**This is a Work-In-Progress**Introduction As of 2020, there were 1.5 million faculty members in post-secondary institutions, butBlack and Hispanic faculty represented only seven and six percent of that number respectively(NCES, 2022). Black and Hispanic faculty are not only underrepresented at selective publicuniversities but especially so in the areas of science and math (Li & Koedel, 2017). Engineeringdepartments often have very few or no underrepresented minority faculty members (Nelson &Brammer, 2010). While some of these problems can be attributed to the challenges of therecruitment of faculty of color, scholars have increasingly pointed to faculty attrition as a coreproblem (Whitaker et al., 2015). One potential major

Thetwo main phases of training described in the previous paragraph were condensed into two three-hour training sessions. Then, the new cohort dove into aiding with data collection, data analysis, and presentation for the CELL-MET study. After this, Secules and Bond-Trittipo facilitated thesame project-matching process utilized during the first year of training.6.4. Investigating implementation ofSTEM-ID in diverse settings represents a major priority of our project’s research agenda. To thisend, the project applied the Innovation Implementation framework [1] to launch its fidelity ofimplementation research in the fall of 2022. Over the course of the 2022-23 school year, wegathered data through classroom observations, interviews, surveys and focus groups tounderstand the critical components of the curricula, necessary support factors, and challengesrelated to the successful implementation. students understand the stipulations of thecontract. According to Rubio & Llopis-Albert (2022), “students read the syllabus for the extent theirexpectations will be fulfilled in terms of content and to gauge whether they have the necessaryresources and skills to acquire an adequate level of knowledge and competencies.” (p. 119) A novelapproach to deepening this understanding and to explicitly expressing expectations while teachingthe concepts of contract review incorporating the syllabus produced increased acknowledgementin aspects of the course including learning objectives and prerequisite knowledge. This increasewas evidenced by a decrease in communication between students and instructor aboutmisunderstandings surrounding the syllabus and
