At the median, chemical engineering faculty identified threedifferent types of courses where they believed undergraduate students in their program learnedabout ESI, most commonly capstone design (72%). Over half of the chemical engineeringinstructors reported teaching safety, professional practice issues, engineering decisions underuncertainty, environmental protection issues, sustainability, ethical failures, and the societalimpacts of technology in their courses. Moreover, the scenario-based videos were limited in scope toa single course in a single engineering discipline which restricted their overall utility across thecurriculum. Recent observations by the authors and input from current undergraduate studentsidentified new scenarios that needed to be addressed, including cheating in laboratory courses,cheating in project-based courses, and cheating on exams.
