students to attend the engineering program, as well as creating anenvironment that is welcoming and supportive of diversity, has caused our numbers to shiftgreatly from women accounting for only 14% of our engineering program population in 2020 towomen making up 21% in 2022 [1]. With over 50% of our engineering students identifying asnon-white, there is a lot to celebrate but there is still more work to do. When considering theintersectionality with race, we discovered that African American women engineering studentscomprised only 4% of the college and Hispanic women engineering students comprised just 3%.Further analysis revealed that out of the nearly 800 degrees awarded in 2022, not even 50 wereawarded to these demographics. These events motivateconnectedness to content and offer opportunities for discussion and collaborative design.
