develop an engineering mindset. Mentors tookan approach of teaching students by first having them watch or closely assist them before settingthem free to continue the task on their own. Mentors’ goal was to have students doing most ofthe decision making and work. Mentors realized the FRC activity was complex and wanted theirstudents to push their limits but still work within their means in order to produce the bestproduct. “If you take somebody and you try to teach them how to do something, about the fourth iteration they start unlearning it. This is occasionally called “drill and kill.” If you teach somebody how to do something by doing it with them and then you back off and let them do it and then go through a Q/A

They were tasked with assessing the proposal pitch from atechnical perspective and reporting to the client on how effective the product was described, assessing the technical merits of the proposed heat transfer analysis, and rating the ability of theteam to complete their stated deliverables. Completing this assessment necessitated the reviewersto ask questions and probe deeper into the presented proposal. An interesting phenomenonemerged between the in class Q&A and the

An intuitive measure for distance, Euclidean distance is the straight- line distance between two points in multidimensional space. It is calculated using 𝑑𝐸 (𝑝, 𝑞) = √(𝑝1 − 𝑞1 )2 + (𝑝2 − 𝑞2 )2 + ⋯ + (𝑝𝑛 − 𝑞𝑛 )2 where n represents the number of dimensions or variables being considered and p and q represent the respective measures of two points on each of the dimensions. A variation on this distance is the Squared Euclidean distance which eliminates the square root
