Aspart of the engineering curriculum, students take an electronics course in the spring semester oftheir second year. The course introduces students to the behavior of circuits and elements whenvarying voltage sources are used. The frequency response of circuits is of particular interest. Thisprovides an opportunity to introduce the concept of automating data acquisition and analysis. failure. In thisproject, this was achieved by breaking up the BMS into several separate ‘child-units’ created byInfineon-device monitoring, one module at a time. An ESP-32, a Low-cost, Low-Power system-on-a-chip L-PSoC microcontroller with integrated Wi-Fi and dual-mode Bluetooth, was used to turnthe ISO-UART connection to the master board into a Wi-Fi connection. This conversion ofconnection type is the basis of what is now a wireless D-BMS, and all data was then transferred toa MATLAB script for data to be visualized and analyzed.
