Findings from a study of early-career faculty engaging in interdisciplinary off-campus projectwork suggests that such opportunities were seen as valuable personal and professional developmentexperiences by the faculty, and that participation did not hamper progress toward tenure [9].5 Case Study: Nanyang Polytechnic Institute At NYP, students take a 3-year diploma program in a sequence of six semester-long 3-credit courses.Figure 4 shows how PBL experience is embedded in the curriculum; PBL currently forms about 30% ofmost diploma programs in NYP.
